The Ulumbaza White is a characterful white blend from the Springfontein Rim. The Ulumbaza wines follow the same sensory philosophy as our Terroir Selection, but are created as stand-alone blends. What unites them is Pinotage as a component of the blend.
The Ulumbaza White combines Sauvignon Blanc, Chenel and Pinotage into an unusual and distinctive white wine. The cool Walker Bay climate, the proximity to the Atlantic and the highly alkaline maritime limestone soils give it its characteristic freshness and minerality.
On the nose the wine shows a complex aromatic profile of citrus fruit, melon, and tropical, grassy and floral notes. On the palate it is fresh and lively, with a fine texture and a long, mineral finish.
The individual varieties are vinified separately. The hand-picked grapes are gently processed and fermented with natural yeasts. After fermentation the wines mature separately on the fine lees before being blended into the final cuvée. The wine is bottled without filtration.
