Cape Moby Single Varietals (Chardonnay · Semillon · Sauv. Blanc)

Cape Moby is Springfontein’s sister label, produced off the estate, and stands for characterful, approachable wines from carefully selected vineyards and parcels in Walker Bay and the surrounding area.

Just a few kilometres from the Atlantic, cool nights, maritime winds and changing weather conditions meet a unique landscape of fynbos, limestone, sand and coastal formations. These conditions give the wines their characteristic freshness and vitality.

Cape Moby combines classic varietal character with the unmistakable influence of the coast. The wines are deliberately kept approachable, without losing their origin or distinctiveness. Depending on the variety, different interpretations emerge – what they share is the clear freshness and maritime character of Walker Bay.

The wines are made with a high degree of manual work and as gently as possible. Spontaneous fermentation with natural yeasts and a restrained use of wood and other cellar interventions let each variety’s character and origin take centre stage.

The name Cape Moby refers to the great whales that migrate along the Walker Bay coast. Like them, this wine belongs to the landscape: shaped by the sea, the wind and the distinctive nature of the southern Cape.
