The Limestone Rocks Estate Wines represent the distinctive connection between Pinotage and the limestone-rich terroir of the Springfontein Rim. They are among the most characterful wines of the estate, combining power and volume with the freshness and minerality that are characteristic of Springfontein.
Maritime limestone forms the foundation. The vines root deeply into the limestone-influenced soils, accessing water and minerals from deeper layers. Together with the cool coastal climate, the constant Atlantic winds and the natural fynbos vegetation, this creates a terroir that gives the wines particular tension and depth.
Limestone Rocks is produced with a high degree of handwork. The grapes are vinified separately and gently before the individual components are brought together into a characterful cuvée. Extended maturation in barriques gives the wine time to integrate structure and aromas without overshadowing its mineral origin.
After bottling, the wines continue to mature for many months in our cellar before release. Bottled unfiltered, natural deposits may form as the wines develop with age.
Limestone Rocks are wines built for long development – powerful and concentrated, yet carried by freshness, minerality and the unmistakable character of the Springfontein Rim.
