The Limestone Rocks estate wine is an expression of our unique limestone terroir on the Springfontein Rim. The wines combine depth, texture and generous fruit with the site’s characteristic minerality and freshness.
The grapes come from selected parcels of our estate in Stanford, just 5 km from the Atlantic. The cool coastal climate and the highly alkaline maritime limestone soils lay the foundation for slow, even ripening and give the wines their distinctive freshness and mineral tension.
The grapes are hand-picked, selected and sorted. Depending on the vintage, they are fermented with natural yeasts and processed with a high degree of manual work. Maturation takes place over an extended period in egg-shaped fermentation vessels and French and American oak barrels, before the wines undergo further ageing in our cellar prior to release.
Limestone Rocks stands for powerful, generous wines with depth and structure that nonetheless never lose sight of their origin. The characteristic minerality of the Springfontein Rim always forms the backbone.
