Blanc de Pinotage “Blushes Inverse”

Blushes Inverse is an unusual interpretation of our Pinotage grape, born from a simple question: can we make a pale wine from red Pinotage grapes without losing their character?

The grapes come from our Pinotage parcels in Stanford, just 5 km from the Atlantic. The cool coastal climate and the highly alkaline, maritime limestone soils of the Springfontein Rim lay the foundation for slow ripening, natural freshness and a pronounced mineral character.

For production, the whole grapes are hand-picked and gently pressed. The juice is deliberately brought into contact with oxygen, which naturally reduces the colour – without the use of activated charcoal or other colour-stripping methods.

Spontaneous fermentation takes place with natural yeasts in egg-shaped fermentation vessels. The wine then undergoes full malolactic fermentation and matures for around 12 months.

The result is a luminous, fresh and mineral wine that blurs the boundary between white and red wine. Pinotage, seen from a completely different angle.
