Cape Moby is Springfontein’s sister label, produced off the estate, and stands for characterful, approachable wines from carefully selected vineyards and parcels in Walker Bay and the surrounding area.

Just a few kilometres from the Atlantic, cool nights, maritime winds and changing weather conditions meet a unique landscape of fynbos, limestone, sand and coastal formations. These conditions give the wines their characteristic freshness and vitality.

The Cape Moby red wines put the clear expression of their respective grape variety at the centre. Dark fruit, spice and structure combine with the freshness typical of Walker Bay and an elegant, balanced style.

Vinification is carried out with a high degree of manual work and as gently as possible. Spontaneous fermentation with wild, indigenous yeasts and targeted maturation in different vessels let variety, fruit and origin take centre stage.

The name Cape Moby refers to the great whales that migrate along the Walker Bay coast. Like the landscape they come from, these wines are shaped by the sea, the wind and the distinctive nature of the southern Cape.
