Terroir Selection Chenel

The Terroir Selection Chenel is a characterful expression of the unique limestone terroir of the Springfontein Rim. The proximity to the Atlantic, the cool coastal climate, the pristine fynbos vegetation and the highly alkaline maritime limestone soils shape this wine’s distinctive character.

Chenel – a variety rarely found in South Africa – combines freshness and aromatic precision here with a fine, supple texture. The grapes come mainly from the shallower, front parcels of the estate.

On the nose, clear aromas of apple and peach appear. On the palate the wine combines pronounced minerality with soft acidity and subtly integrated oak notes. A precise, elegant white wine that directly expresses the special origin of the Springfontein Rim.

The grapes are hand-picked and carefully selected. After a brief cold soak, they are pressed as whole bunches. Fermentation takes place with natural yeasts in egg-shaped fermenters and French barriques. The wine is matured unfiltered and with minimal intervention.
